Tigi 50mg Injection is an antibiotic which is used to treat infections in the abdomen, skin, and lungs. This medicine is not used regularly unless necessary. This medicine may cause teeth discoloration in the children. It may increase the risk of sunburns when exposed to the sunlight.
It is used to treat severe infections of the body like skin, intra-abdominal infections, and community-acquired bacterial pneumonia. It works by killing the bacteria that cause these problems. But, it will not treat a viral infection.
Tigi 50mg Injection is commonly used to treat critically ill patients admitted to the hospital.

Tigi 50mg Injection is an antibiotic that fights bacteria.
Tigi 50mg Injection is used in the treatment of Intra-abdominal infections like Peritonitis, Appendicitis, Intra-abdominal Abscess caused by E.coli, Streptococci, and Enterococci.
Tigi 50mg Injection is used in the treatment of Skin and Structure infection like cellulitis, wound infection and cutaneous abscess caused by Streptococcus pyogenes and Staphylococcus aureus.
Tigi 50mg Injection is used in the treatment of community acquired pneumonia which is a most common type of lung infection caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenzae.
Dosage and direction of taking Tigi 50mg Injection
Tigi 50mg Injection should only be administered under the supervision of your doctor or nurse.
It is given by a drip into a vein (intravenous infusion).
Do not miss any pre-scheduled appointments for receiving the Injection. The course of the medicine should be completed even if you feel better.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT self administer this medicine.
The recommended dosage regimen for Tigi 50mg is an initial dose of 100 mg, followed by 50 mg every 12 hours. Intravenous infusions of Tigi 50mg should be administered over approximately 30 to 60 minutes every 12 hours.
Be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist about all the products you use (including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products).
Avoid drinking alcohol while taking Tigi 50mg Injection. Alcohol can cause excessive drowsiness with this medicine.

Tigi (tigecycline) is a tetracycline class antibacterial for intravenous infusion.
A glycylcycline antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein translation by binding to 30S ribosomal subunit, and blocks entry of amino-acyl tRNA molecules in ribosome A site.

IMPORTANT: Further tell the doctor:
This medicine is NOT recommended for pregnant women and children
This medicine is NOT recommended for breastfeeding mothers
if you are suffering from any liver problems
Severe hepatic impairment
Use during tooth development may cause permanent discoloration of teeth
Avoid use in patients with known hypersensitivity to tetracyclines
Pancreatitis, including fatalities, reported; if pancreatitis suspected, consider stopping treatment
About other prescription and nonprescription medicines, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking or plan to take. Tigecycline may affect the way other medicines or products work, and other medicines or products may affect how tigecycline works.
Side Effects of taking Tigi 50mg Injection
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Common side effects for both forms are:
Nausea
Vomiting
Indigestion
Insomnia
Swelling at the injection site
Major side effects requiring medical attention:
Irregular heartbeat
Chills
Mouth ulcers
Headache
Dizziness
Anaphylaxis or anaphylactoid reactions
Acute pancreatitis
Hepatic cholestasis and jaundice
Severe skin reactions, including Stevens-Johnson Syndrome
Symptomatic hypoglycemia in patients with or without diabetes mellitus
Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.
Drug interaction with Tigi 50mg Injection
Inform your doctor about any medications that you are taking including prescription medications, over the counter medications, vitamins, supplements and herbal remedies. Do not start, stop and change the dosage of any medicine without your doctor's permission.
IMPORTANT: Inform the doctor, if you are currently taking any of the following medicines:
Warfarin
Acitretin (Tretoact, Acetroin, Psotretin)
Strontium Chloride (Bentoform, Strotas)
Fosphenytoin (Milorgen, Fosphen, Fosentin)
Magaldrate (Magflux)
If you are taking any of the above medicines, remember to tell your doctor immediately. Taking these medicines with tigecycline could create the potential for serious and/or life-threatening side-effects or stop tigecycline from working properly.

Storage of Tigi 50mg Injection
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Store at 15°C - 30°C (59°F - 77°F); protect drug from excessive light, humidity, and temperature over 30°C (86°F)
Keep Tigi 50mg Injection in the container till you handover to your health provider.
Throw away any Injection that are no longer needed or expired (out of date).
Medicines should not be disposed of via waste water or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. This will help to protect the environment.
