How to use Pemmet 500 MG injection?
Pemmet 500 MG injection should be only administered by a qualified healthcare professional.
Doctor's supervision in a hospital or in a place where sterile equipment are available for preparation is preferred. Do not self-administer Pemmet 500 MG injection.
If you missed an injection of Pemmet 500 MG contact your doctor immediately.
Side Effects
As with all medications some people experience certain side effects. Inform your doctor immediately if you have any of the effects below
- hair loss
- cough
- change in mood
- diarrhea
- pharyngitis
- loss of appetite
- stomatitis
If you have any of the below mentioned side effects seek medical advice immediately
- mouth ulcers
- fever and chills
- skin rash
- low WBC and platelet count
- decreased urine output
- blood in urine and stools
- anemia
- neuropathy
Interactions
Caution should be exercised when prescribing probenecid, penicillin, nephrotoxic drugs, high doses of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs, such as ibuprofen) and aspirinwhile you are taking Pemmet 500 MG injection. It is recommended to closely monitor the creatinine clearance.
Patients who are taking oral anticoagulants will require increased frequency of INR (International Normalised Ratio) monitoring as there is a possibility of interactions between oral anticoagulants and anti cancer chemotherapy treatments.
Counselling sessions are needed for women who are planning to get pregnant about the toxic effect of Pemmet 500 MG injection on babies. Two effective methods of contraception methods should be used while on this therapy and six months after that. Men too should not father a child while on Pemmet 500 MG injection and six months after the treatment.
There are no evidence of alcohol interaction, it's best to consult your doctor for advice.
Pemmet 500 MG injection should not be used on pregnant women as it may cause fetal damage. Discuss with your doctor the risks and benefits involved prior to starting your treatment.
Pemmet 500 MG injection is not recommended for nursing mothers as it may be passed on to the baby. Discuss with your doctor to make a decision either to continue the medication or to continue feeding.
Pemmet 500 MG injection may make you tired so it will have an effect on your driving. Therefore it is recommended not to drive.
Exercise caution when prescribing Pemmet 500 MG injection to patients with kidney disease. A dose adjustment may be required.
Precautions
Inform your doctor if you've been vaccinated recently. While you are on Pemmet 500 MG injection, do not take any immunizations or vaccinations at all without the approval of your doctor. Avoid contact anyone who has received them.
You must take corticosteroids, Folic Acid and Vitamin B12 along with Pemmet 500 MG injection therapy.
Inform your doctor your complete medical history, if you are have or have had heart conditions, kidney/ liver diseases prior to taking this therapy.
Blood cell count, liver and kidney functions will be monitored through blood samples prior to each Pemmet 500 MG infusion.
