What is Lumigan | Bimat (Bimatoprost)?
Bimatoprost 3ml is used to treat patients with not enough or inadequate eyelashes. Bimatoprost makes the eyelashes more noticeable by causing more eyelashes to grow and making them longer, thicker, and darker. Bimatoprost is similar to a natural chemical in the body (prostaglandin).
Bimatoprost is also used to treat glaucoma. If you are already using or are directed to use bimatoprost to treat glaucoma, be careful not to get this eyelash medication into your eyes. Getting extra bimatoprost in your eyes may make it less effective for treating glaucoma. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist for more details.

Recommendations for use of Lumigan | Bimat (Bimatoprost)
Bimatoprost 3ml is used for thickens and darkens eyelashes. Like hair, eyelashes sprout, grow for a while and eventually fall out. Bimatoprost 3ml both extends the growth phase and increases the number of hairs that sprout.
It takes 12 to 16 weeks of daily use to show satisfactory results. After two months of nightly use, you may begin to see results. After three or four months, your doctor may recommend a treatment schedule of every two days. If you stop using Bimatoprost 3ml, your eyelashes will gradually return to their former state.
Dosage and direction of taking Lumigan | Bimat (Bimatoprost)
Read the Medication Guide and the Patient Information Leaflet provided by your pharmacist before you start using Lumigan | Bimat (Bimatoprost)and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Take Lumigan | Bimat (Bimatoprost) exactly as it was prescribed for you. Do not take in doses which are either larger or for longer than recommended by your doctor.
Take Lumigan | Bimat (Bimatoprost) once a day in the evening or as directed by your doctor. Always try to take Lumigan | Bimat (Bimatoprost) at the same time every evening.
Prior to using this medication wash your face and hands well. Ensure your face is free of makeup and remove any contact lenses. 15 minutes after applying the medication you can reinsert the contact lenses. Take one drop of the medication on to the applicator. Draw the applicator right away across the skin at the bottom of the eyelashes of the upper eyelid margin from the inner part of your lash line to the outer part. Any excess solution applied beyond the eyelid margin needs to be blotted. After applying the medication the applicator needs to be disposed. New applicator needs to be used for the other eye. Lumigan | Bimat (Bimatoprost) is not meant to be used on the lower eyelid.
If Lumigan | Bimat (Bimatoprost) get into your eye, do not panic. It is unlikely to cause any problems as it is also prescribed for glaucoma.
Do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch your eyelashes or any surface as it contaminates the dropper then. Dropper should not be rinsed. After each use replace the dropper cap and keep it tightly closed.
Only use the prescribed number of drops, never use more than what is prescribed. In case you need to use more than one drop give 5 minute gaps in between drops. If you are using other eye drops you need to wait for atleast 10 minutes between using them.
Do not take Bimatoprost 3mL more often or for a longer time than prescribed by your doctor
Missed Dose of Lumigan | Bimat (Bimatoprost)
If you missed a dose take Bimatoprost 3mL as soon as you remember. If it is too close to your next dose then skip the missed dose and take the regular dose. Should never double the dose in order to make up for the missed dose.
Overdose of Lumigan | Bimat (Bimatoprost)
If you think you have taken more than the required dose contact a poison control center or emergency room at once. NOTE: This medicine is only for you. Do not share this medicine with others.
Precautions before taking Lumigan | Bimat (Bimatoprost)

Informyour doctor before taking Lumigan | Bimat (Bimatoprost) if you are allergic to this medication, any of its non-active ingredients or any other allergies that you have
Before taking Lumigan | Bimat (Bimatoprost), tell your doctor if you have:
glaucoma or other eye pressure problems
eye problems such as macular edema, uveitis, lens extraction, iritis
kidney disease
liver disease
Inform the doctor or the optician when you get your eye pressure tested that you are using Bimotoprost.
This medicine should be used if it is clearly needed during pregnancy.
Keep this medication in the refrigerator or at room temperature. Do not freeze.
Side Effects of Lumigan | Bimat (Bimatoprost)
Lumigan | Bimat (Bimatoprost) is prescribed tby your doctor after carefully analyzing the benefits over the risks involved. Most people do not experience any serious side effects. However, you may experience the following side effects.
Side effects that you should report to your doctor, if you have:
eye redness
burning eyes
itchy eyes
headaches
eye pain or irritation
dry eyes
eye tearing
bloating
Inform your doctor immediately if you experience any of the serious side effects mentioned below.
pink eye
sensitivity to light
swelling or redness of the eyelid
suspected eye infection (discharge)
rapid vision changes or loss of vision
Inform your doctor immediately if you develop any allergic reactions (hives, swollen throat, lips, face or mouth, breathing difficulties).
Interaction with Lumigan | Bimat (Bimatoprost)
Inform your doctor about any medications that you are taking including prescription medications, over the counter medications, vitamins, supplements and herbal remedies. Do not start, stop and change the dosage of any medicine without your doctor's permission.
It is not known if Lumigan | Bimat (Bimatoprost) passes to breast milk. Consult your doctor to seek his opinion before you breast feed.
Discuss with your doctor benefits and the risks involved when taking this medicine during pregnancy. It should only be taken if it is absolutely necessary.
Inform your doctor if you are taking any other glaucoma eye drops such as travoprost, latanoprost and tafluprost.
Inform your doctor of all the prescribed, over the counter, herbal medications and vitamin supplements that you are taking before you start Lumigan | Bimat (Bimatoprost).
Storage of Lumigan | Bimat (Bimatoprost)
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Store at 15°C - 30°C (59°F - 77°F); protect drug from excessive light, humidity, and temperature over 30°C (86°F)
Keep Lumigan | Bimat (Bimatoprost) tablets in the container that they came in and keep the container tightly closed.
Throw away capsules that are no longer needed or expired (out of date).
Medicines should not be disposed of via waste water or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. This will help to protect the environment.
Lumigan | Bimat (Bimatoprost) should not be used after the given expiration date.
