How to use Letrozole (Femara) 2.5mg?
Before you start to use Letrozole (Femara) 2.5mg read the patient information leaflet. Any questions or doubts should be addressed with your doctor.
Take one tablet of Letrozole (Femara)once a day orally with a full glass of water or as prescribed by doctor.
Letrozole (Femara) can be taken with or without food.
Always try to take Letrozole (Femara) at the same time every day. If you missed a dose take Letrozole (Femara) as soon as you remember. If it is too close to your next dose then skip the missed dose and take the regular dose. Should never double the dose in order to make up for the missed dose.
You need to inform your doctor immediately if you get new lumps in your breasts.
Do not stop taking Letrozole (Femara) even if you are feeling better unless you are told so before discussing with your doctor.
Precautions
Before taking Letrozole (Femara) inform your doctor if you are allergic to it or anastrozole or any other allergies
Prior to taking Letrozole (Femara) inform your doctor if you
- have or had high blood pressure
- have or had liver diseases
- have or had kidney disease
- have or had cholesterol
- have or had bone problems such as osteoporosis, osteopenia
- had a stroke
- have or had blood clots
- have or had heart disease – Chest pain, heart failure, heart attack
This medication can make you dizzy and tired. Sometimes it may make your vision blurry, Letrozole (Femara) side effects may increase if it interacts with alcohol and Marjuanaso it is recommended to avoid both of those.. This medication causes vision problems, vomiting and dizziness. Do not drive or operate machinery unless you feel well
Side effects
Most people do not experience any serious side effects. However, you may experience the following side effects.
- unusual sweating
- hot flashes
- joint / muscle/ bone pain
- hair loss
- trouble sleeping
- diarrhea
- dizziness
- nausea
- tiredness
Inform your doctor immediately if you experience any of the serious side effects mentioned below.
- mental / mood changes (depression / anxiety)
- bone fractures
- blurred vision
- yellowing eyes, skin
- dark urine
- swelling of legs and arms
IF you have any of the below mentioned symptoms you need to get medical help immediately.
- coughing up blood
- pain in the chest, left jaw or arm
- confusion
- sudden dizziness / feeling faintish
- sudden severe headache
- pain or swelling in the groin or calf
- weakness on one side of the body
- slurred speech
- vision changes
- headaches
Interactions
This medication should not be used during pregnancy. There is a likelihood that the unborn baby may be harmed. If you have gone through menopause recently you need to use a reliable form of birth control while taking this medication and after 3weeks of stopping this medication as well. Do not use any birth control pills which contains estrogen.
There is no evidence If this medication passes to breast milk . It is recommended to avoid breast feeding while you are taking this treatment and 3 weeks after it. Discuss with your doctor.
